LINDLEY, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Corning-Painted Post Area School District has announced all town roads will be closed until 6 p.m. today and other roads will be closed until further notice.
The following roads will remain closed until further notice: Morgan Creek Rd. from Anglehart Rd. to CR 115; North Clendenning Creek Rd. from Reep Rd to the Town line; Ryers Creek Rd from CR 73 to Johnson Rd; Engle Rd from Stowell Rd to Bell Hill Rd.
In a statement to Lindley families, the district said, "Taking this information into consideration, the majority of Lindley bus runs will be back to normal on Monday morning, October 1st. There will be very few exceptions to accommodate children and families still located on the remaining roads that are closed. At this time, we have already contacted the families that it affects and notified them of the alternative plans for transportation. If you do not live on the previously named roads, your busing will be the same as it was before the flooding and road closures. Senator Tom O'Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and Steuben County Public Works Commissioner Vince Spagnoletti will be touring the damage to Town of Lindley's road infrastructure with the Highway Superintendent Marc Stocum Sr. this afternoon, September 28th.
Lindley remains in a State of Emergency with all roads closed due to flooding. Roads continue to be repaired and many sections may be passable by Friday evening, September 28th. Some roads or sections of roads may continue to be closed as work continues.
Please yield to highway workers and take alternate routes if you come across road- closed signs and barricades.
Notice is Hereby Given that the Town Board of
the Town of Lindley, County of Steuben, New York, will hold two Public Hearings
at the Town Board Meeting on Wednesday, October 10th 2018 starting at 7:00 pm
at the Lindley Town Hall 637 Co Rte 115 Lindley NY 14858. The first Public
Hearing is to present Proposed Local Law #4-2018 "Override of Tax Cap Set
Forth In General Municipal Law 3-c." This proposed Local Law, if enacted,
would allow the Town Board, after reviewing the financial needs and
obligations, to override the tax cap for the fiscal year 2019. The second Public Hearing is to present
Resolution #6-2018 duly adopted on the 26th day of
September 2018, subject to a permissive referendum as provided by GML Section
6-c and Town Law Article 7. The purpose of this resolution is to allow the Town
to borrow, if needed, Town reserve account funds, to be paid back as required
by law, in order to rebuild roads damaged by the flash flooding of September
21st 2018. All interested parties are invited to attend and be heard. Pkease note that Lindley Town 2019-Budget review will continue, as well.

BATH – A state of emergency remains in effect in the Town of Lindley while other roads in Steuben County near the Pennsylvania border remained closed as of 3 p.m. Saturday, according to county Officer of Emergency Services Director Tim Marshall.
“We advise any travelers in southern portion of the county to use caution, even on roads that are open,” Marshall said.
“Except for the Town of Lindley’s emergency status and remaining roads closures, there are no other warnings, alerts or advisories in place.”
The road closures are the result of a severe thunderstorm that tore through the southern areas of Steuben County around 8 p.m. Friday.
Remaining road closures Saturday are:
➢ County Route 127 from Lunger Road to the Pennsylvania Border (Town of Woodhull).
➢ County Route 85 from Murray Road to the Pennsylvania Border (Town of Tuscarora).
➢ Herrington Road to CR 127 (Town of Woodhull).
➢ Town of Lindley (State of Emergency in effect)

• Watson Creek
• Morgan Creek
• Griswold Road
Local emergency officials reported limited access Friday night on more than a dozen roads in the region.
hardest hit areas in Steuben appeared to be Town of West Union, Town of
Woodhull, Town of Tuscarora and the Town of Lindley. Lindley sustained
severe damage to the town highway system.
Marshall reported the
extensive damage was contained to the outlying of the towns, with little
damage reported in major populated areas.

Guthrie Health Offering Flood Relief Financial Assistance

Guthrie’s Mark Stensager Human Service Fund has committed to providing financial assistance to those in need impacted by the recent floods. Requests for awards of up to $500 per eligible household are being considered on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited funding. In order to be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Have sustained major flood damage
Have receipts or estimates for damages related to recent flooding
Be an individual, not a business
Live in a community where Guthrie offers medical care
For funding consideration, visit https://www.guthrie.org/floodrelief to fill out the application. Submit it with copies of receipts or estimates that directly pertain to flood damage by November 30, 2018 to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com or fax to: 570-887-7317.
"Flash Flood warnings are over, but some road access was limited overnight.
The Flash Flooding in Steuben County has receded. Assessment of Town and County Roads Continue. The hardest hit areas of the County appear to be Town of West Union, Town of Woodhull, Town of Tuscarora and the Town of Lindley.
Town of Lindley has declared a State of Emergency for severe damage to Town Highway system. All Town Roads are closed until they can be assessed and/or repaired. Emergency Vehicles Only on Town roads.
The following County Roads will remain closed or limited access overnight:
Highway crews will assessment most of the affected area tomorrow with many of the local Town roads are also impassable. Please stay out of these areas until repairs can be made to the highway system. Additional updates will occur on Saturday."

PLEASE NOTE: The Lindley Highway Department continues to respond and repair roads after flash flooding town-wide. Road repairs will be done in order of most critical repairs needed. The following roads are impacted, in no particular order:
Morgan Crk Rd - 1 lane traffic at the twin bridges. Watson Crk Rd - passable with care. Stowell Rd - passable. Steamtown Rd. - passable with care. Jackson Rd. - passable with care. Northbranch Clendenning - detour possible - please follow signs - CLOSED IN THE ROCK CUT SECTION. Johnson Rd. - closed. Welty Rd. - passable.
The Highway Department has been working overnight and the roads continue to be assessed. Please contact the Lindley Highway Superintendent at 523-7294 or the Town Clerk at 523-8816 if there are other road issues that develop from the flash flooding.
