Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm

Old Business

• John Kuehn, Sprague Insurance, shared his understanding about how the Steuben County Worker’s Compensation plan works. The County plan is based on 42.5% Real Property Tax, 42.5% Payroll, and 15% Claims activities. He also shared how the County plan might be affected by Towns leaving the plan, and how remaining towns may be affected by staying with the plan.

John K. addressed the Sprague Insurance liability portion of the Town’s coverage. He indicated that for the next insurance period, there is no increase expected and a small refund check should be coming to the Town.

Kathy B. will send updated information for coverage renewal purposes to John on 4/22/10. John will attend the May 12th Town Board Meeting.

• Richard introduced Chuck Coons, Code Enforcement Officer candidate. Richard indicated it was the Board’s intention to provide Code Enforcement properly and defensibly. Chuck shared that he has been doing Code Enforcement for 15 years and believes in giving home owners the opportunity to correct their violations before a court appearance ticket is issued.

Richard indicated there was another candidate he would like the Board to meet at another date.

• Richard B. indicated that he continues to look into a bailiff for the trial on May 1st, and for the 3rd Tuesday of each month for Criminal Court.

Emergency Business:

• Kathy B. raised an emergency issue regarding a Worker’s Comp claim. A bill from the hospital was mistakenly coded as “self pay” and sent to the worker’s home. Kathy recommended the bill be paid directly by the town ($600) rather than resubmit the claim with Worker’s Comp. Kathy will take care of on Monday.
